A computer running slow is something that a lot of people have experienced when handling their machine. Many factors may result in computers running slow or failing to respond altogether. There may be harmful factors that may lead to this serious problem.

Downloading of materials from the internet may cause the computer to slow down. The common items that may result in computer slowness include music, pictures and even movies. The process of downloading these materials can sometimes be affected by other malicious factors like viral attack. It is always advisable to clear these downloaded items ever so often so that they do not affect the speed of the machine.

Other factors like opening emails with attachments, cookies or surfing on suspect websites which may sometimes contain malicious programs may have dire consequences on the computer as these programs are known to slow the general speed of the computer.

Most computers give hints that a hard drive is about to fail through slowed performance. Others will display a warning message that the worst is about to happen. When you are given such a message, the first thing to do should be to back up all important information. In some cases, the warning message comes too late and before you finish backing up the data, the thing crashes!

The presence of many programs in the startup folder slows down the computer when numerous programs are installed on a computer; sometimes they are added to the startup folder and this slows down the computer when many programs try to run at once during booting. Also install full spyware and virus scan software. Then run the registry cleaner to clean your registry and defragment the hard drive. In case it just happens once or twice, it may be due to some immediate problem which will be restored once you restart the system but in case your computer is showing blue screen regularly then you must make sure that the registry and ram are functioning properly.

The problem can be easily fixed by registry cleaning. Down load registry cleaner software and scan the registry.

If the problem is due to RAM then you might need to change the faulty RAM. Before changing check it with some other RAM sticks whether the problem is of RAM or not.

If the blue screen is due to driver problem, then check the device drivers of your system by going to the Device manager and clicking the Roll Back Driver.

Many users know that viruses are harmful for the computer system .Apart from this you should also know that of your CPU temperature is not monitored carefully it can damage your computer. Remember that your PC is build of many electrical components and wires .Although it has an in built fan that will compel it perform harder yet in worst circumstances it might catch fire and burn. BIOS plays a vital role in monitoring CPU temperature. You can refer your manual to acquire more information on it. You often boot your system and then press tab F8 or F5. It is very essential to delete the application that is not utilized frequently. It is a fact that the speed of the computer gets affected by excessive installation of applications. Therefore it is good to get rid of the programs that you don’t use immediately.
