Developing Data Security Policy
Filed Under Computers, Data Storage, Technology | Leave a Comment
Developing a sound data security policy is extremely important in the present scenario where the threat from hackers is at a maximum. Data security could be compromised due to various reasons. These could be hackers who intrude into the systems, malicious code injected into the systems, vulnerability of the software and significant failures resulting in exposing the internal data and many more.
Basic things like sql injection which exposes internal data validation by conscious wrong input of data, stealing of private and confidential data should be prevented by putting proper risk mitigation measures in place. Confidential information should be specially protected and not accessible to everyone. There should also be a check on print outs carried out of a firm or data in any format. It is very difficult to provide absolute data security; nevertheless a strong policy in place could help raise awareness against data theft amongst the employees.

Data Backup Reporting in a Nutshell
Filed Under Computers, Data Storage, Technology | Leave a Comment
Data backup is often mandatory in companies because of its importance. Many important files, corporate information, emails etc. are stored at multiple levels in various databases. Information is usually stored in larger pools, chunks or in portions depending on the time frame, utility etc. However, given the multiple backups, one needs a database backup management tool to have proper statistics for managers to analyze the data backup system and the ease of access and data recovery from the backup databases and shared network drives.
The tools help the data administrators and the top level managers to assess data management schemes and risk aversion systems. Potential problems could be identified by reviewing the data backup management tools. These tools help to collect and consolidate information of various systems where data has been stored as backup, the processes involved in backing up the data and the platforms available to protect the valued information of the firm

We often end up accidentally deleting important data from our systems. Data could also be lost due to the failure of the operating system or during disk partition. Data recovery technicians can help retrieve lost data from a system including files which have been shift deleted. Lost data can be retrieved from USB devices as well in most of the cases. Most of these recovery technicians are licensed and in some cases provided by certified firms.
Most data recovery technicians advise customers not to mishandle the drives or devices after data is lost including power on mechanisms, freezing etc. The technicians do a cleanroom evaluation of the drives and make a listing of the files that can be recovered by using sophisticated software and hardware even when the drive is extremely damaged. At a fixed price, these files are repaired and recovered on to the destination drive in the format chosen by the customer.

How to know if you’re Hard Drive is Soon to be crashed
Filed Under Computers, Data Storage | Leave a Comment

Most computers give hints that a hard drive is about to fail through slowed performance. Others will display a warning message that the worst is about to happen. When you are given such a message, the first thing to do should be to back up all important information. In some cases, the warning message comes too late and before you finish backing up the data, the thing crashes!
Most computer crashes occur after systems restore or reformatting task has been performed on the hard drive. It does not matter how new your hard disk is; it will crash sometime. The question is not whether this can happen but rather, when it will happen.
Statistics show that if you have 17 new PCs in your system, one of them will suffer from a hard disk failure within one year. After two years, hard disks have a higher possibility of failing every now and then before finally crashing.
