Most computers give hints that a hard drive is about to fail through slowed performance. Others will display a warning message that the worst is about to happen. When you are given such a message, the first thing to do should be to back up all important information. In some cases, the warning message comes too late and before you finish backing up the data, the thing crashes!

Most computer crashes occur after systems restore or reformatting task has been performed on the hard drive. It does not matter how new your hard disk is; it will crash sometime. The question is not whether this can happen but rather, when it will happen.

Statistics show that if you have 17 new PCs in your system, one of them will suffer from a hard disk failure within one year. After two years, hard disks have a higher possibility of failing every now and then before finally crashing.
