Wireless routers are very commonly used in portable computers such as laptops and notebooks. These routers are normally installed in the computer’s USB port or card slot. Wireless routers are quite convenient and there is need to ensure that they are completely secure. One of the things that you can do to ensure that these routers are secure is to change the default system in the routers. Create your own secure password and network name so that no one else will be able to hack into your system.
It is also a good idea to turn off your computer’s SSID broadcasting so that it is not visible to someone else. You should also turn on MAC filtering so that no one outside your network will have access to your system. Using encryption for more security on your wireless router is also a good idea. You should also de-activate DHCP and assign all your wireless clients static IP addresses.
